Matija Bravničar
The Matija Bravničar International Violin Competition is open to aspiring young violinists from 5 to 25 years of age and is named after the renowned Slovenian violinist and composer Matija Bravničar (1897 – 1977) who especially created many works for violin and symphony orchestra.
The competition, which will be held across five distinct categories, three for elementary school children and two for secondary school and university students, is not just another competition platform for violinists, but is designed to offer a special musical experience. The experience will serve as a powerful motivation for young musicians encouraging exceptional furthe work, with a focus on gentle support in the lower categories, while maintaining a high standard in the fourth category and the artistic category of the violinist Dejan Bravničar. With the competition, we aim to popularize Bravničar's exquisite musical works, which are suited both for violinists taking their first steps and for mature musicians.
The Matija Bravničar International Violin Competition is also appealing due to its attractive and unique prizes. As our aim is to bridge culture and industry through this event, we are especially pleased that the cash prizes will be provided by successful international companies based in the Logatec area. The grand prize is a two-year lease of the violin »Fantasia 2023«, a replica of the famous Bravničar violin. The exceptional prize is a masterful work of art by an internationally renowned violin maker Dario Vettori from Florence.
Through the Matija Bravničar International Violin Competition, Logatec is becoming even more recognized. The thematic synergy between this event and the Veris International Festival, organized by the Logatec Music School, provides an excellent foundation for establishing a Slovenian centar dedicated to nurturing exceptional violin talent.
